Using two SPs you need two cables. A Gameboy pocket/color link cable for red, blue, and yellow. And a GBA link cable for ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Just make sure the 1st Gen games are from the same region and that all the games are authentic and you should be OK. Mods don't interfere with trading, or I have not come across any that do. Thank
