Secondly one of the reasons gta 6 will be bigger is because of gta online. They want you to spend more time in the game and one of the easiest ways to do it is make sure the objective is far away. You can enter more interiors in GTA4 and DLC than GTA 5 and urban area was very detailed for 2008.

That picture of the WoW map there, doesn't include three other different zones which were included in expansions. So I'd take a wild guess, and say the GTA V map is about 1/8th of the size of WoW's. Pretty insane, considering the new map is pretty god damn large!
